Admissions at MDRT Rehab
You don't need to have it all figured out — just reach out, and our Oxnard team will walk you through everything at your pace.
The Admissions Process
We understand that reaching out about treatment — whether for yourself or a young adult you love — can feel overwhelming. At MDRT Rehab in Oxnard, our admissions team is here to remove the uncertainty and walk both patients and families through every step. The process begins with a confidential phone call to (209) 593-3455, where a trained counselor gathers basic information, answers your questions, and starts an insurance pre-authorization so you know your coverage before you arrive.
Within 24 hours of that call, our clinical coordinator conducts a thorough assessment — reviewing medical history, substance use patterns, mental health needs, and personal goals. Based on the results, we recommend a level of care (detox, residential, PHP, or IOP) and schedule an intake date. On arrival day, a peer mentor greets you at the door, gives you a tour of the campus, and helps you settle in. Families receive a separate orientation packet so they understand visitation schedules, communication policies, and how to participate in the recovery process from the very beginning.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can my son or daughter continue college courses during treatment?
Yes, and we know this is one of the biggest concerns families have when a young adult needs help. Our program coordinators work directly with colleges and universities to arrange medical leaves, incomplete grades, or remote coursework so your child does not lose an entire semester. Many of our patients in their late teens and twenties have returned to school within weeks of completing residential treatment, and our Oxnard team has established relationships with several Ventura County institutions to make that transition smoother.
What does a typical day look like for young adults at MDRT?
Mornings start with a clinical group session, followed by individual therapy or specialized young-adult programming that addresses the unique pressures of early adulthood — career anxiety, social media, peer relationships, and identity formation. Afternoons include evidence-based skills workshops and physical wellness activities. Evenings are for peer support groups and family phone calls. The structure is intentional: young adults thrive with routine, and families tell us they feel reassured knowing exactly what their loved one is doing each day.
How do you help families rebuild trust after addiction?
Addiction does real damage to family relationships, and we do not pretend a 30-day stay fixes that overnight. Our family therapy program brings parents, siblings, and partners into structured sessions where a licensed therapist guides honest conversations about broken trust, enabling patterns, and healthy boundary-setting. Families also attend our weekly education workshops in Oxnard where they learn what recovery actually looks like long-term, so they can support their young adult without slipping back into old dynamics.
Is treatment different for someone in their 20s versus older adults?
Absolutely, and that difference matters more than most families realize. Young adults face distinct challenges — developing brains, incomplete coping skills, heavy social media influence, and life stages like college or first jobs that older adults have already navigated. Our clinical team uses age-appropriate modalities that meet young people where they are, rather than putting a 22-year-old in the same group as someone managing a decades-long dependency. Families appreciate that their child is surrounded by peers who genuinely understand what they are going through.
What insurance plans do you accept, and will you help us figure out coverage?
We accept Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicaid, Medicare, Magellan, Kaiser Permanente, Cigna, and United Healthcare. We know that navigating insurance while your family is in crisis feels overwhelming, so our admissions team handles the verification process for you. Call us at (209) 593-3455 and we will run a complimentary benefits check, then walk both you and your young adult through what is covered so there are no surprises.
What happens after residential treatment — how do young adults transition back to life in Oxnard?
Discharge is not the finish line — it is a milestone. Before your young adult leaves, our team builds a detailed aftercare plan that may include step-down to our outpatient program, alumni peer groups, individual counseling referrals, and connections to sober social activities in the Oxnard and Ventura County area. Families receive their own transition guide covering how to set boundaries at home, recognize warning signs, and access local family support resources so everyone in the household is equipped for what comes next.
